Areas of Use of Polyester Filament Yarn in the Textile Industry
1. Ready-to-Wear and Fashion Industry
Polyester filament yarns are the driving force of the textile industry. They are used to give fabrics the desired texture and luster.
- Outerwear: Preferred in the production of jackets, coats, and raincoats due to wind resistance and low moisture absorption.
- Active Sportswear: Thanks to moisture-wicking properties and elasticity, it is a core component of jerseys, leggings, and performance-oriented garments.
- Underwear and Socks: Soft-touch textured yarns are widely used in this field due to their skin-friendly structure.
2. Home Textiles and Decoration
Polyester filament yarns have a wide portfolio in home textiles, where durability and easy-care properties are prioritized.
- Curtain Fabrics: High resistance to sunlight (UV rays) allows curtains to retain their color for a long time.
- Upholstery Fabrics: Preferred for sofa and chair coverings due to their abrasion resistance.
- Duvet Covers and Bedspreads: Their wrinkle resistance and no-iron structure enhance consumer comfort.
3. Technical Textiles and Industrial Applications
"High Tenacity" polyester filaments are used as structural materials in engineering-driven fields.
- Automotive Industry: They meet the highest safety standards in seat belts, airbags, tire cord fabric, and headliners.
- Geotextiles: Serve as filtration and reinforcement layers in road construction, drainage systems, and erosion control.
- Conveyor Belts and Straps: Integrated in yarn form as a reinforcing material to increase load-carrying capacity in heavy industry.
4. Outdoor and Recreational Equipment
The superior resistance it shows against environmental conditions (moisture, fungus, mold, and sunlight) makes polyester unrivaled for outdoor products.
- Tents and Tarpaulins: Provide excellent protection when combined with waterproof coatings.
- Sails and Ropes: Used in maritime applications for resistance to saltwater and tensile forces.
- Sleeping Bags and Backpacks: Offer advantages of lightness and thermal insulation.
5. Medical and Hygiene Sector
Polyester filaments are also used in the medical field due to their suitability for sterilization processes and allergen-free structure.
- Surgical Masks and Gowns: Used in the production of non-woven or woven fabrics with barrier properties.
- Medical Bandages and Support Products: A main component in elastic medical textiles requiring compression properties.
Recycle Texture Yarn Production
Recycle texture yarn production is not just about recovering waste plastic, but about transforming it into industrial quality. This is not just a slogan. It requires discipline, machinery, and above all, a master-level process.
- 1. Raw Material: The Foundation of the Process: Everything starts with rPET (recycled polyester). PET waste with a known source is selected, sorting and cleaning are carried out, and it is converted into granules.
- 2. POY Production: rPET granules are melted, filtered, and transformed into filaments. The resulting product is rPET POY.
- 3. Texturing Stage: This is the step that turns recycle texture into yarn. Controlled twisting is applied, the filaments are shaped with heat, and the structure is fixed through cooling.
- 4. Stabilization and Winding: The textured yarn passes through tension control, its stability is measured, and it is wound onto bobbins.
- 5. Quality Control: Tensile strength, unevenness (Uster), twist stability, and dye uptake performance are checked.
- 6. Sustainability Aspect: Properly produced recycle texture yarn provides a lower carbon footprint, reduced fossil resource usage, and contributes to the circular economy.
